10 reasons why you may find that this 100% Kona coffee tastes better:

 1)  Shade grown  BLUE HORSE KONA comes from the famous Kona Coffee region, located on the Big Island of Hawaii. A unique weather pattern of bright sunny mornings and cloudy afternoons produces the ideal micro climate for our coffee. Naturally shade grown coffees are not in need of artificial irrigation and you will find that it produces milder, more flavorful beans. Keep in mind that one pleasent thing with Kona coffee is that its unique aroma often comes out clearer when using less ground coffee per cup than you do with other coffees.

2)  Hand picked  Our century old trees are hand picked to obtain the best crop, assuring that only the reddest, ripest and finest cherries make it into your cup.The steep, rocky terrain of our plantation is perfect for coffee trees, yet it does not lend itself well to mechanical cultivation or harvesting, so most of the work must be done by hand.

3)  Unrushed  The 3 keywords for the best Kona coffees are: Wet-processed. Sun dried. Parchment stored. These traditional methods require much time, labor and experience. Many coffee producers consider them eating into their profit margin, therefore mechanize and speed through these steps and will tell you it wouldn’t matter. Yet these methods of the ‘old timers’ are essential to the superb aroma quality of the Kona coffee beans.  Slow ripening, slow drying , slow roasting:  coffee doesn’t like to be rushed. You don’t down a cup of coffee either - you sip it, right?

4)  Pesticide & herbicide free  Our century-old coffee trees produce year after year superb naturally flavored coffee beans with a mellow body and delicate fragrant notes. To be fair to them, to our birds and bees, we hand clear most weeds and never, ever use pesticides. We apply mulch and other organic plant matter to enrich the already nutritious, young Hawaiian soil throughout the year and carefully balance the pH of the acidic volcanic earth with coral limestone. The island environment is fragile and we need to conserve and protect it for everybody.

5)  Authentic small family estate   Family owned Kona farms produce the finest coffees, because out here in the woods on an island we really depend on each other.  There’s no ‘management turnover’ and more accountability. We have to think in generations and not only from paycheck to paycheck.  BLUE HORSE KONA isn’t one of those ‘gentlemen farms’ either, where other people do the work and its owners get a tax write off. Nor are we buying coffee from other farms and sell it under our label.

6)  Fresh roasting  We roast only small batches 2-3 times a week; then package and ship our coffee immediately afterwards to preserve its freshness. The essential flavored oils of coffee are delicate and fade quickly when coming in contact with oxygen. So our zip locked, valve sealed bags let roasting gases out, but no oxygen back in. Unopened, these bags conserve the flavors for many months.

7)  Lowest, farm-direct priced  No processors, coffee brokers, shippers, handlers, dock- and storage managers, roasters, e.g. are in between you and us. This allows us to sell the ‘real deal’ of pure, unadultered fresh Kona coffee at prices lower than most offer. The prices are calculated very tight and last seasons harvest was a big one. So get you BLUE HORSE KONA while this price lasts!

8)  Fast & free shipping   To cause no checkout-surprises we include the shipping cost and taxes. Once purchased  we’ll mail your Kona coffee the next, sometimes even the same day you ordered. USPS Priority Mail normally takes 2 - 4 days to reach your mail box. Depending on the ordered amount your coffee will arrive in either a simple functional envelope or carton. If it should be a gift we’ll add a greeting card with your words!

9)  State of Hawaii Inspected & Certified  The Kona appellation is comparable to the government protected Champagne region in France, which produces the only legitimately named ‘Champagne’ product.  Similar to it 100% Kona coffee is distinguished from other coffees not only by region and its ideal growing conditions, but also by the enormous amount of care taken throughout each step of the farming, harvesting and  processing.  Beware of cheap Kona coffees calling themselves ‘Kona Blend’, ‘Kona Style’ or ‘Kona Roast’! Also Ebay is full of questionable offerings under the 100% Kona coffee right next to the genuine stuff. The currently best method  for you to get real 100% Kona coffee is to ask for State of Hawaii certified Kona coffee. If you see a number like our current lot number below, you’ll know that this particular coffee was inspected, approved and is traceable. We here at BLUE HORSE KONA think that you deserve to get the best beans for the premium prices real Kona coffee commands.                                            (our current lot: # 2-812902)
